Martina
Frycova, originally from the Czech Republic, is preparing
herself for the Tour that should take place in March -
April 2013.
Martina is being supported by the Rotary
Club of LaBelle (District 6960),
see on the left a photo of Martina together with the LaBelle's
Club president. See Martina during her
presentation to LaBelle Rotarians here. |

Main
objective of the Tour is to develop and promote Rotary
club humanitarian water projects in Asia, Africa and
other areas of need. Specific target for this Tour is a Water
& Sanitation Project in a school and a clinic in Nangarhar province
in Afghanistan. The goal is two fold - raise
funds for duplicating number of latrines (from 2 to 4) & verifying
safety of water well in the clinic and raise
funds for constructing a new well and improving sanitation of
latrines in the school.

A
map of the planned Tour is shown on the left. Click on
it to enlarge it. The whole trip will be done through AMTRAK.
The goal is to visit 15 Rotary Clubs in 15
Rotary Districts and collect $15,000 to promore the Afghan
project mentioned above. A Newletter article has been sent to
all 65 Districts along the route, see the full Newletter
article here.
UPDATE
- the initial planned goal of 15 clubs visit has been largely
exceeded, 23 clubs have already signed for a presentation!
See a spreadsheet with the planned
stops (Excel), see a map with the
planned
stops (KMZ).

As
a part of the Rotary Rail & Water planning process,
we are preparing online mapping files for each
District along the route.
If you would like an editable version of your club locations KML
file for your District use in other publications and
projects then check
this link and send us a request. |

Martina
is also looking for potential sponsors of her Tour. These collected
funds will cover some of the basic travel costs.
First $500 donation from the Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club
has been already received, so it is a great start.
See here a copy of the Sanibel-Captiva
Newsletter,
describing Martina's presentation to this Club.
